Presentation
Natural substances is a multidisciplinary exploratory field with a strong impact on the discovery of new drugs, the understanding, preservation and characterization of biodiversity, the prevention of toxicity and the exploitation of bioresources in different fields of application. The chemical characterization of natural molecules constitutes the starting point for any study of chemiodiversity and its metabolic engineering which leads to varied and much broader applications. In this context, the laboratory of fundamental sciences (LFS) is a structure which brings together the complementary activities of chemists, biochemists, pharmacists, microbiologists, physiologists and agronomists interested in natural substances and their valuations. LSF’s scientific activity is based on multidisciplinary research openly anchored in a Chemistry-Biology-Agronomy interface. The main lines of research of LFS concern the extraction of bioactive molecules, the analysis of their structures, the characterization of their biological activities and the study of their mechanisms of action through molecular modeling tests. Resolutely LFS also places its development in interaction with the socio-economic sphere on the one hand by promoting its academic research activities on the other. In addition, LFS researchers are also involved in the training offer (License, Master, Doctorate) related to natural substances and their chemical and biological recovery.
