We are delighted to welcome you to the official page of the Faculty of Letters and Languages. Here, you will discover a wealth of information about our diverse academic programs, spanning undergraduate and graduate studies, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. This platform also provides insight into the various research areas pursued by our scholars within our state-of-the-art laboratories.
At the Faculty of Letters and Languages, we believe that language is as foundational to knowledge as numbers are to science. The universal principles of grammar, which transcend the boundaries of individual languages, are as intricate and significant as the laws governing physics. These principles ignite our classroom discussions, which are intellectually stimulating and deeply engaging.
While some may question the necessity of studying literature and languages in today’s fast-paced world, we affirm that these disciplines are indispensable to numerous professions, including teaching, journalism, translation, and publishing. The skills honed in these fields are just as crucial to society’s well-being as those developed in the fields of medicine or law. The study of letters and languages addresses fundamental human needs, offering insights into the vast spectrum of linguistic and cultural experiences. In fact, literature and art, often undervalued in modern discourse, play a vital role in shaping various aspects of life — from cinema to media, to social networks. Humanities are not merely academic pursuits; they are essential to fostering the values of democracy and freedom. Through them, we cultivate reflective and informed citizens who contribute to the preservation of our societal principles and freedoms.
Furthermore, engaging with diverse cultures, languages, and historical epochs — particularly through the lens of literature — nurtures a deeper understanding of others. It allows us to view the world through different perspectives, encouraging empathy and tolerance, both of which are critical for sustaining democratic societies. This exploration transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, fostering the mutual respect and global awareness needed in today’s interconnected world.
In addition to these societal benefits, linguistic and literary studies also offer immense value within the business world. Graduates in these disciplines possess a unique skill set, characterized by strong communication abilities, critical thinking, creativity, and cultural competence — all of which are invaluable in various entrepreneurial ventures. Whether it’s starting a business in publishing, translation, education, or cultural consultancy, the knowledge acquired through a degree in letters and languages can open doors to niche markets and innovative career paths. Equipped with the right entrepreneurial spirit, our graduates are well-positioned to succeed in a wide range of industries.
Our academic programs extend far beyond the study of literature and languages alone. They represent an intellectual journey into the human condition, offering bachelor’s degrees in Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, as well as programs in written and oral translation. For those who wish to delve deeper, we offer master’s programs and doctoral studies, enabling a rigorous pursuit of research and scholarship.
Our faculty is home to five research laboratories, offering an ideal environment for master’s and doctoral students to develop their thesis work. These laboratories are not only a space for academic inquiry but also a driving force behind the scientific contributions that enhance our university’s standing within the global academic community.
To our new students, we encourage you to embrace the challenges and rewards that come with studying literature and languages. These fields, though demanding, offer unparalleled intellectual and personal growth, and we look forward to guiding you through this enriching academic journey.
Welcome once again, and we are excited to have you as part of our vibrant academic community.
