Scientific research is one of the main concerns of the academic activity of the Faculty, as it is one of the pillars to strengthen and enhance the cooperation between the members of the Faculty to effectively contribute to the progress of scientific research, direct and upgrade the classification of the Faculty and university at both domestic and foreign levels. The Vice-Deanship in Charge of Scientific Research also works to achieve the following goals:
- Helping to create a fertile environment for creativity and innovation for graduate students
- Upgrading the level of scientific research and doctoral theses while encouraging international publications in international journals
- Developing graduate studies programs and creating new programs that serve the requirements of the external community and compete domestically and internationally and attract different researchers, partnerships, universities, student and academic exchanges
- Managing administrative procedures, helping researchers, upgrading the academic journals of the Faculty, and adopting an effective mechanism that guarantees increasing the trust and credibility of the journal and raising its scientific impact and ranking.
The Service’s Tasks:
- Following up the research activities of scientific research laboratories and evaluate its results.
- Running research projects ((PRFU or CNEPRU)) and the National Research Program (PNR) and evaluating their results.
- Issuing scientific research certificates and research authorities.
- Monitoring the results of scientific research laboratories’ activities.
- Collecting and publishing information on university-led research activities.
Research Teams within Research Projects: (PRFU)
They are bodies of academic research, supervised by professors of higher education or lecturers, not exceeding six members. It is also required to include a number of doctoral students.
Project Acceptance Criteria :
- The duration of the project is four years without prolongation.
- The project manager can introduce a new project in the third year of the ongoing project.
- The research team consists of at least three (03) members and six (06) at most, including the project manager.
- – The project manager must be from the professorship grades (professor or lecturer category A).
- The research team must be made, compulsorily, by doctoral students (Classical and L.M.D. Systems) and teachers researchers enrolled in the doctorate.
- It is recommended that each research project include two (02) Ph.D. students for every lecturer.
The Process of Evaluating New Projects:
- Projects approved for four years will undergo two evaluations:
- Mid-term evaluation (end of second year)
- Final evaluation (end of fourth year)
The evaluation of the annual or final assessment depends on the following elements:
- PhD defenses: At least a Ph.D. defense for each research project.
- The scientific product accomplished in the framework of the research project and during the project approval period:
National and international publications, national and international conferences.

Scientific Research Laboratories :
In implementation of Executive Decree No. 99/244 of 10/31/1999 of 10/31/1999 specifying the laws of establishment, organization and work process within the research laboratory, each teacher- researcher can propose a file to create a research laboratory. The research laboratory shall undertake the implementation of one or several topics for scientific research and technological development related to national research programs (Article 10 of Law No. 98/11). The proposal must be submitted to the scientific council of its institution.
The research laboratory aims to accomplish the goals of research and development, and the implementation of studies and research work and participation in acquiring knowledge and improving knowledge and training for and on the part of research and disseminating scientific information and the results obtained. It is supervised by an elected director, and it must consist of four research units, each of which is managed by a qualified researcher and in turn consists of at least three researchers.
The research laboratory includes a special council for the laboratory in charge of preparing the programs and supervising the status of the revenue and expenses proceeds provided by the laboratory director. It is asserted that the laboratory has the independence of financially controlled management, where this is inferential. The laboratory is funded by financial aid provided by ( FNRSDT ). The research laboratory can find its own sources of funding, within the framework of respecting the laws, related to its research activities by extracting service loan contracts with another body.
Conditions for Establishing the Laboratory:
The establishment of the research laboratory is subject to some basic rules (Decree 244-99 of October 31, 1999), which must meet the administrative criteria for its establishment:
- The physical location of the laboratory (headquarters and equipment)
- The presence of qualified researchers with specialized professors.
- The laboratory must contain at least 4 research teams, with each group consisting of at least three researchers.
- Justified and indicative opinion by the special division bodies of the institution.
- Opinion and approval of the institution director.
- The project proposal must respect, precisely, the construction document submitted by the tutelary ministry.
Legislative Texts:
- Law No. 99-05 of 18 Dhu al-Hijjah 1419 corresponding to April 4, 1999 includes the amended and complementary orienting law for higher education.
