A Brief History of the Faculty

The Department of Economic Sciences opened during the academic year 1991/1992 with an estimated number of 66 students in the common trunk of economic sciences. This section also included a branch of Information Technology for management, a short-term training that opened during the academic year 1990/1991 with an estimated number of 57 students.

 In the context of the promotion of the Professors’ Higher School of Technical Education to a university center, during the academic year 1997/98, the Department of Economic Sciences turned into an institute called the Institute of Economic Sciences.

 According to the Executive Decree No. 01-270 of 09/18/2001, which includes the establishment of the University of Laghouat, the institute has turned into a faculty called the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences.

 According to the Executive Decree No. 10-198 of 2010, amending and supplementing Executive Decree No. 01-270 of 09/18/2001, the name of the faculty was transferred to the Faculty of Economic, Commercial and Management Sciences.

Pedagogical Seats

The Faculty of Economic Sciences contains a sufficient number of pedagogical structures prepared and equipped with the latest means, which can accommodate up to 2558 pedagogical seats:

• Three (03) amphitheatres with a capacity of 662 pedagogical seats
• Forty two (42) study rooms with a capacity of 1,892 pedagogical seats.
• Six (06) Internet halls: 130 devices (130 Posts).
• Five 05 reading halls at the faculty library level.

Pedagogical Headquarters

The college contains a building dedicated to pedagogical management called departmental complex. It contains about 20 administrative offices devoted to the five pedagogical departments:

• Common trunk section
• Management Sciences Department
• Department of Economic Sciences
• Department of Commercial Sciences
• Finance and Accounting Department
